Senior Financial Analyst

Purpose of the role
This is a broad financial role to support the Finance Director and Senior Management of the newly formed China business. The main purposes of the role are to:
-Ensure internal and external reporting requirements are met, and that company policies are adhered to.
-Provide accurate and informative business and financial analysis & reporting to support decision making and resource allocation.
-Monitor, control, report and challenge revenue and costs
-Partner senior management in developing the business plan and projections

Main responsibilities of the job
-Financial Planning and Analysis
-Develop monthly pack of key financials, metric, commentary and analysis of business performance
-Manage and execute the monthly close process, ensuring the reporting requirements are met on a timely and accurate basis.
-Monthly review of performance with senior management
-Development of efficient financial processes and reporting in order to enable and improve decision making in the business
-Collate and evaluate departmental plans and forecasts
-Assist in the formulation of business development, operational and financial plans.
-Understand and analyse the key drivers of performance
-Review & challenge business performance
-Support management in problem solving and decision making.
-Perform ad-hoc projects as required by Finance Director

Key Relationships
-With China Executives and Staff to support the commercial decisions of the business, review and analyse the monthly performance and work on ad hoc projects
With global Finance to explain the business performance and provide high level analysis to support the monthly reporting

Experience: relevant experience for the role
-Ability to work with and influence a wide range of stakeholders and business individuals.
-Experience of the planning process and management accounting.
-Experience in different areas of an accounting function.
-Experience of projects and working in a start-up business.
-Experience of the publishing industry.
-Experience in an international foreign business operating in China would be beneficial.

Technical Knowledge:
Qualified, graduate accountant with 5 or more years experience.
Good knowledge of how accounting and planning processes
Good knowledge of business model and presentation
Good Microsoft Office knowledge, especially Excel, Power Point
Fluent English in writing and speaking
