Over 3.2m automobiles recalled in China in 2012

Gasgoo.com (Shanghai January 29) - A total of 113 automobile recalls were made in China last year, chinanews.com reported today, citing statistics released by the General Administration of Quality Supervision, Inspection and Quarantine earlier this week. A total of 3.2 million vehicles were targeted in the recall, 75.3 percent greater than 2011's amount.

According to Fu Wenbiao, deputy head of AQSIQ's general office, the department received 9,640 complaints regarding defective automobiles or auto parts last year, up nine percent from 2011. Complaints with automobile drive transmission systems were the most numerous, making up 3,449, or 35.78 percent, of all complaints received. Engine and electronic problems were the second and third most commonly brought up issues, accounting for 21.42 percent and 10.24 percent of all complaints, respectively.

The total number of automobile and auto part related complaints that AQSIQ received increased approximately 18 percent last year
